Pocket Poems

Unchecked

Pockets are meant
For storing
Not keeping
Do not blame me
When your keys go
Missing

As the resident goddess of laundry, I have little—no patience for people who don't check their pockets before chucking their clothes in the basket.   Shared with Poetry Jam, where Laurie inspired us with pockets full of poetry poetryjaam.blogspot.com  and also sharing with pockets of poets at dversepoets.com OLN :-)

Feline the Blank

Feline exclamation
Vegetable combination
Popular in the Depression
Fun alliteration
But
Unclear why it's suffering

Yes I was/am a huge fan of Looney Tunes and Tweety Bird, loved how he said “putty tat” :-) Poetic Asides prompt--suffering

  2. Sara, love the "pocket poem," and as a cat lover of many years, I always side with the kitties!!

The laundry goddess... ah, yes, that's me, too... the worst is the Kleenex someone forgot to take out of their pocket. Ironically, I'm usually at fault. Lex has OCD, and it serves him well, if only in this detail.

Loved these. Like two bonbons, before breakfast! Thanks for your comment on the "autotune," BTW. You are so right. Amy

  3. As the mother of three, I'm with ya on the pockets, Sara. Sometimes, though, I find money in the washer or dryer and keep it... hehehe.

  11. My worst fear is that the television remote will end up in the washing machine alone with the bed sheets. It has almost happened TWICE! (And I would only have myself to blame.) I enjoyed your poem..storing, not keeping indeed.

    2. Hi Mary!! Thank you for the chuckle--heaven forbid the remote would be alone with the bed sheets! ;-) That would be horrible though--remotes do not wash well...

  12. Is the missing word solipsistication? I can't think why else you think I would know it...

Loved the pocket poem too. I think all writers have scraps they scribble poetry on. :)

    1. Hi Rachel!! Well, solipsistication sounds like something Sylvester would say...I figured you were a Looney fan too, and the missing word is "succotash" as in "Suffering Succotash!" ;-)

      Scraps for scribbling--wonderful alliteration!!

  13. Perfect description of what so many of us have found stuffed inside pockets ~~ post washing machine! I once, yes ME, left a lipstick inside my sweat pants pocket ~~ you can only imagine the result. It was in a load of whites! Love both of your poems. Happy weekend.
